Good Friday
What is most poignant is that we lived at all,
not that at some old age we’ve died alone
and painfully of a rampaging virus. Worst
that we were young once, longed for love,
found it, lived a life, had adventures, lived
through happiness and grief, lean times and fat,
that we knelt down in the garden, smiled up
in triumph, were wistful one time, brazen and brash
another, lived once. This, as you said, not
that you say nothing now, is what would
tear the heart out of a wheelbarrow.
