still expectant
after a month’s slow awakening
my watching and waiting
has not sped up
the signs of
planetary spin and lean
against the sun
the dark is murk
and dirt
is not sunlit
snow not gone yet
though rotted
and discolored
still delayed
discouraged now
though I’ve heard
sparrow song
and the ratatat of Downy
Woodpecker
drumming for insects
in old orchard wood
how greedy I am
how greedy all
who wait and want
more more
and more amazing this:
we will get more
green, bloom
after this month’s
creaky opening,
erratically arriving Spring,
still unrealized now,
anticipated still,
will come
after a month’s slow awakening
my watching and waiting
has not sped up
the signs of
planetary spin and lean
against the sun
the dark is murk
and dirt
is not sunlit
snow not gone yet
though rotted
and discolored
still delayed
discouraged now
though I’ve heard
sparrow song
and the ratatat of Downy
Woodpecker
drumming for insects
in old orchard wood
how greedy I am
how greedy all
who wait and want
more more
and more amazing this:
we will get more
green, bloom
after this month’s
creaky opening,
erratically arriving Spring,
still unrealized now,
